Information about Harley

Handsome Harley has found himself at Teckels through no fault of his own. This lovely boy is now looking for his forever home with a family who have lots of time and patience to help him settle into his new life. We are unsure as to whether Harley has ever lived in a home before so we would encourage new adopters to be prepared for housetraining, building up time left and teaching general house manners. Harley would also benefit from training classes to help him along with his basic obedience skills – fortunately this boy is desperate to please and loves working for his tasty treats!

Harley would like his new family to be around regularly during the day. We do feel that he can be left for a couple of hours but this will need to be built up slowly. He would like everyone in the household to be over the age of 11 and could possibly live with another medium to large sized canine friend (depending on introductions at the centre). Harley is not able to share his home with cats or small furies.

Being such a youngster, Harley’s new family will need to be relatively active and make sure that his energy is put to good use. He does (mostly)walk nicely on the lead but we are unsure as to how much lead walking experience he has had. Being a lurcher, Harley does always have an eye on the wildlife around him so would need to be kept on a lead for his safety.

Although initially a little shy, Harley can soon be won round with food and toys. Once he has gotten to know you, he loves a good fuss and neck scratches and loves being on the sofa with us for snuggles. He also enjoys playing but sometimes forgets his size. Harley may be worried meeting new people when he goes into his new home so it may be best he goes to a quieter home environment without too much going on.

We would also encourage new adopters to consider Harley’s grooming requirements also. He will need daily brushing and semi – regular trims.
